The Playhouse building is celebrating its
80th year!
The
San Pedro Playhouse's annual gala,
The Sweetest Sounds - Eight Decades of
Musical Gems, is scheduled for
Sunday, May 2nd.
Once again, Bonnie Reed will be one of the
singers in the show, along
with 15 more of the best voices in
San Antonio. The Masters of Ceremony this
year will be Rick Cavender. Those of you
who know Rick know that he will be a most
amusing and entertaining emcee!
The night starts at 6:30 with an open
Champagne Reception and a great silent
auction, and this year we will have a full
bar. One drink will be included with your
ticket purchase and additional drinks will
be available on a cash basis. The show this
year features music from Broadway musicals
from the 1930s through the 1st decade of
the 2000s - many shows you know and
love, and some you may not have known but
will learn to love the music!. At
intermission, you will have more opportunity
to bid on silent auction items and to
indulge in wonderful desserts and fruit
donated by 18 of San Antonio's best
restaurants, bakeries, caterers,and
chocolatiers.
Invitations have not yet gone out, but I
have reserved 4 rows of seats for our
friends (I think that these rows are the
best in the house!). We are limiting ticket
sales to 250 (our theater seats 400). We
sold out last year and I wanted to give you
an opportunity to get your reservations in
early. If you also want to receive a
mailed copy of the invitation, please let me
know (we're trying to save money - this is a
fund raiser, after all).

this Gala, and would like to help support
the Playhouse which is important to both of
us and to the community, please send your

payable to the San Pedro Playhouse (so that
you can get your tax deduction). The price
per ticket is $100 - a real deal for bubbly
champagne, a cocktail or two, biddable gems,
delicious desserts, a fantastic show with
great talent, and support for a venerable
(80 years old) institution.
